memo
I don't remember vividly, but I believe Ruby was watching Finding Nemo as this picture was taken. She calls Nemo "Memo."

Painting and teeth
I managed to paint this picture for my dear old friend Elise's soon-to-be-baby nursery a couple of weeks ago. It felt good to do something creative! I liked the pear shaped birdies the best. She liked the lobster.
Ruby has been testing our parenting skills of late with a constant bitterness towards life and a lack of her usual smiling and sleeping. She hasn't been herself for a couple of weeks due to cutting all her molars at once! We're ready to have our sweet baby back.

Aunt Brooke came to visit for two whole weeks! We did everything. Lot's of swimmin' and mexican food and movies, art museum, botanical garden, rock shows, walking around downtown, tubing on the Guadalupe in New Braunfels, shopping, napping, making crafts, cooking feasts, riding bikes, breakin' the law, and I even set her up on a blind date! The house feels empty without her. Moo.
Grafitti
Today is the happy day that "Tacks, the Boy Disaster" is finally re-formed. It is their first official practice with new guitarist Jake and they plan to record in a bonafide(please pronounce with southern drawl) studio for 3 entire days in the middle of July. It's very exciting and there are more people than Evan would like on tenterhooks to hear the new album. It's been a long time coming, with losing a drummer to North Carolina and a guitarist to Harvard. (keeping Nathan on as a wild card though!) Evan has been working out kinks and lyrics and re-writing and re-recording tirelessly into the wee hours of the night. He's welcoming the upcoming group effort.
Miss Ruby is a tall and saucy monster. She walks, runs, sings, dances, climbs furniture and is developing a shoe fetish. It's so funny and magical to see more of her little personality emerge every day! She loves books and music. Evan pulled out an old keyboard for her and she's been rocking out.
The last couple of days she's insisted on barreling around the house in her rubber galoshes ALL DAY.

Birthday Week
I don't know how they do it elsewhere, but here in Texas we celebrate the birthday week. Ruby's was an eventful one. She said her first sentence "Wow, kitty!", took her first step on the morning of her real birthday, had her first bbq brisket, birthday cake, hosted her first party(around 50 guests!), a visit from Grambie and Pops, and an obscene pile of presents.
